Isopropyl

Using isopropyl in skincare responsibly requires an esthetician! Shameless plug.

Isopropyl is used in skin care to help ingredients penetrate better. It stabilizes products, are used to help to kill the bacteria that cause acne, removing excess oil, dead skin and unclogging pores.

Isopropyl is commonly used in making astringents, making sanitizers, and used in conjunctions with other moisturizing skincare ingredients

Although isopropyl works and is labeled as safe, sometimes the use of isopropyl can disrupt the skin barrier causing itching and irritation.

As a holistic esthetician, I recommend alcohol-free products for your at home, skin care regimen, but here are some beneficial ways that aestheticians like myself are using isopropyl responsibly in the spa:

  1. To prep the skin before waxing and or Sugaring Hill Removal.

  2. To disinfect tools

  3. To help chemical peel solutions penetrate more layers of the skin.
